I’m the heart and hands behind Sandra Studio, and I’m so glad you’re here. Ever since I was a child, I’ve been captivated by the art of creation. Growing up in a small town, I was surrounded by the beauty of nature and the charm of handmade things. My mother was a gifted weaver, and I spent countless hours by her side, learning the basics of braiding linen and leather, and discovering the joy of bringing something to life with my own hands.

My love for sandal-making began in my early twenties. The textures of natural materials, their unique imperfections, and the way they soften with time hooked me instantly. I bought a small piece of linen and some basic tools, planning to make a simple pair of sandals. Little did I know that this small project would spark a passion that would define my life.

From Passion to a Lifelong Craft

What started as a hobby quickly became a core part of who I am. I spent every spare moment honing my craft—studying traditional weaving techniques, experimenting with designs, and refining my skills. My garage turned into a workshop, filled with the scent of leather and the rhythm of my tools at work.

In the early days, resources were scarce, but my determination was unstoppable. Each sandal taught me something new, and with every weave, my confidence grew. Soon, friends and family began asking for custom pairs, and their encouragement fueled my dream to turn this passion into something bigger.

The Creation of Sandra Studio

In 2000, I took a leap of faith and officially founded Sandra Studio. It was both thrilling and daunting, but I was driven by a belief that there’s a place for carefully crafted, high-quality sandals in a world increasingly dominated by mass production. I wanted to offer something different: sandals made with care, attention, and a personal touch.

Over the years, Sandra Studio has stayed true to those roots. Every sandal—whether a linen flat or a raphia wedge—is meticulously handwoven by me, ensuring every detail meets the highest standards. I believe the things we wear daily should not only be practical but also bring a sense of joy and connection.

After 25 years, I’ve made the heartbreaking decision to close my workshop. The rise of big stores and cheap, mass-produced sandals from abroad has made it impossible to continue.
